Mona Penn-Jousset is an educator, writer, speaker, podcaster, business consultant, and curator of contemporary photography of the African diaspora. Her work explores the intersection of creativity, innovation, and technology, helping universities and organizations build inclusive, high-impact teaching cultures.
She studied Theater and Film, Puerto Rican Studies, and Critical Thinking at Hunter College before earning a BA in Humanities (Creative Writing) from New College in California. She later obtained an MA in Arts and Society from Utrecht University, where her thesis, Beyond The Pale, examined Dutch art academies’ role in shaping historical narratives.
In 2019, Mona became the first known instructor of African descent at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK). She later advised on diversity and curriculum at the School of the Arts Utrecht (HKU). She also hosts True North World, a platform exploring art and social change.
